DMCC or Dubai Multi Commodities Centre is one of the largest free zones in the United Arab Emirates. Located at Jumeirah Lake Towers and Almas Tower, it is also the most prominent locations in Dubai if not the UAE in general. The one big advantage of this free zone is its close proximity to the city center via Sheikh Zayed Road, as well asclose proximity to Jabel Ali port, and the new DWC airport.
Originally established in 2002it was one of the first free zones to allow freehold business premises. It soon became one of the largest international hubs for businesses in the commodities trade industry. The vast majority of companiessetup either sold or imported tea, precious stones, pearls, jewelry, etc. Today, the free zone is home to over 9000 businesses with 94% of owners renewing their licenses every year.
In addition to regular free zone services that are offered by other free zones, businesses get a 50-year tax break on their income taxes. A business can be 100% foreign owned, and all documents are swiftly processed via a one stop shop. So, immigration and licensing is quick and easy.
It is important to bear in mind that JLT and DMCC used to require two separate free zone licenses. That has changed starting in 2014. Now all commodities-based businesses operating in DMCC regardless of if they are JLT Free Zone businesses or within DMCC only need a DMCC license. So, one license for both JLT and DMCC.
